What is atlas reactor?

Atlas Reactor was a free-to-play, turn-based tactics game developed and published by Trion Worlds. It combined elements of real-time strategy and simultaneous turn-based gameplay, pitting teams of four players against each other in fast-paced tactical battles. The game sadly shut down in 2019.

Key aspects of Atlas Reactor included:

  • Simultaneous Turns: Players planned their actions in a set amount of time, and all actions were executed simultaneously, creating a strategic "read-and-react" environment.

  • Predictive Gameplay: Because actions were executed at the same time, players had to anticipate their opponents' moves and plan accordingly.

  • Diverse Freelancers: The game featured a roster of unique characters, known as Freelancers, each with distinct abilities and roles. These Freelancers fell into categories such as Damage, Support, and Tank.

  • Grid-Based Movement: Players moved their Freelancers around a grid-based arena, adding another layer of tactical positioning.

  • Action Points: Each Freelancer had a limited number of Action Points to spend each turn, forcing players to make strategic choices about which actions to prioritize.

  • Four Phases: Turns were divided into four distinct phases: Prep Phase, Dash Phase, Blast Phase, and Move Phase, each influencing the order in which different types of abilities were executed.
